The Historic Paulus Hook Association, also know as the HPHA, was
founded on Sunday, September 24, 1974, to promote the common good
of area residents and to improve the quality of life in the Paulus
Hook neighborhood of downtown Jersey City.
To be a member
of the Association, a person must be over 18 years of age and a
resident, property owner, or business owner within the boundaries
of neighborhood, namely, the Hudson River (on the east), the Morris
Canal Tidewater Basin (on the north), Grove Street (on the west),
and Rail Road Avenue or Columbus Drive (on the south). Membership
dues for individuals are currently $5 (five) dollars per year.
Non-members
and guests are welcome to attend all general meetings as observers.
However, they may not vote.
General meetings
of Association are regularly held on the first Thursday evening
of every month at 7:30 pm in a public place. Meetings currently
take place in the Church Hall of OLC Church, located at 114-118
Sussex Street, Jersey City, NJ.
