Joyce Mathesen - Board Member

Joyce is a recent transplant to Jersey City moving to Paulus Hook the end of 2015. Interested in meeting new people she quickly became an active member in the HPHA and is our current secretary.

Joyce graduated Oswego State with a dual major in Accounting and Art. She went on to receive her CPA License and a Masters in Art Education from Hofstra. Over the years she’s worked at variety of jobs including volunteer work while raising her two daughters with her husband Bob.

She loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, art, walking her dog, and being involved in the Paulus Hook Community she now calls home.

Diane Kaese - Board President

Diane has lived in Jersey City since 1982 and in Paulus Hook since 1986. She has been President, Secretary, and Chair of the Parks Committee of the HPHA. She currently is the chair of the Downtown Construction Committee. Diane has a BS in Architecture from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Columbia University. Weather permitting, Diane rollerblades early on weekend mornings in Liberty State Park. She is always happy to have a companion who can accompany and challenge her!

Stephanie Daniels - VP and Parks Chair

SD 2015 sm2Stephanie has been involved with local quality of life issues since she moved to Paulus Hook in 1990, and has more recently become involved with local politics, having managed the campaign of Ward E Councilwoman Candice Osborne.

Stephanie's primary focus on the HPHA board is the redesign of Paulus Hook Park, where she heads up the Parks Committee. A filmmaker and Creative Director of JCTV, Stephanie shares her life with her husband, director of photography Mark Smith, with whom she kayaks the Hudson, their dog (also an avid kayaker) plus a few too many cats.

Peter D'Agati - Board Member

pdagatiPeter has been a homeowner and resident of Paulus Hook since 2000. He is currently an active member of the Development Oversight Committee. Peter is Founder and President of Stembrook Asset Management, an investment management firm located in downtown Jersey City. Stembrook provides investment counsel and portfolio management to individuals and non-profits. Previously, Peter headed Portfolio Strategy Research at Brown Brothers Harriman. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Finance from Providence College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Peter is also an avid sailor and regularly competes in local regattas.

Riza Hunger - Board Member, Events Chair

2103da9A resident of Paulus Hook since 2001, Riza has been active in her community and serves as Events Chairperson for the HPHA. Her love for the pets in the neighborhood sparked the Annual Halloween Pet Parade in October 2008. With her passion for cooking, Riza organizes the annual Fall Feast for the HPHA. Her personal goal as a member of the Board is to assist in organizing events that will bring new and current residents together to continue to progress the quality of life in Paulus Hook. An entrepreneur and Contract Sales Representative, Riza shares her life with her husband Adam, and their aussiedoodle Jake. Weekends will often find her haunting Chinatown for elusive cooking ingredients.

Vincent Jacaruso - Board Member

Although Vincent was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, he has been working in Jersey City for over 25 years has been a residen

t of Paulus Hook since 2009. He joined the HPHA to get involved in his neighborhood and is chairman of the Membership Committee providing transportation and logistics for HPHA event planning. Vincent owns VJ Delivery Service, Inc., a commercial moving and storage company and Arthur Digianno Inc., an office furniture installation company. He has been in the industry for more than 30 years and is the third generation of his family in the same business. Vincent is a wine enthusiast and is an avid fisherman who spends most of his free time on the water

Gidge Miller - Board Member

GidgebetterGeorge Miller has been a Paulus Hook resident for two years.  He has previously served as chairman of the Master Plan committee and as a member of the Planning Board for the town of East Brookfield, MA.  He was also a board member for the Opacum Land Trust and helped conserve nearly 1,000 acres in Massachusetts.

Andy Siegel - Board Member

Andy moved to Paulus Hook in 1993, and has had a wide career - consumer product marketing executive, real estate developer and local restaurant entrepreneur. With over 3 decades in both Fortune 50 and mid-sized companies, Andy has launched brands in skin care, fitness, health & wellness– all with sales of $100M+ – with more to come. In his spare time, Andy has developed and helps operate three unique restaurant/bars in downtown Jersey City - Satis Bistro, Lucky 7 Tavern and the latest, Raval Tapas Bar & Lounge.

Since 2012, Andy has been President of Liberty Humane Society, the non-profit animal shelter for serves all of Jersey City, Hoboken and Bayonne. Andy is also on the board of the HDSID (Historic Downtown Special Improvement District.). Lauren, Andy’s wife, opened Liberty Pilates in 2013, the only boutique personalized Pilates studio in Jersey City.Both of Andy’s twin daughters, Ashley and Mara, live in the area, and Ashley is an ER nurse at Jersey City Medical.

Fred Sullivan - Board Member, Website-Admin Chair

Fred joined the board in 2013 to enhance the quality of life in Paulus Hook. Fred is interested in learning more about Paulus Hook’s long and rich history and the vibrant and diverse community of today. Fred is originally from Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa. As a resident of Paulus Hook since 2007, Fred plans to leverage his 20 years of experience in online technology as a member of the website committee.
